Mahnomen City Council Continues Strategic Planning Sessions
Mahnomen, MN — The Mahnomen City Council held their second regular monthly meeting last Tuesday, February 16th where they continued on with the next phase of their Strategic Visioning and Tactical Planning sessions. At the previous meeting, the council established four distinct goals for the city, which include:
- Encourage Economic Vitality
- Provide and Maintain the Community’s Infrastructure
- Increase Public Safety
- Enhance and Expand Greater Community Engagement, Collaboration, and Partnerships.
With those goals in mind, the council this last week identified a number of actionable items that they can do to make improvements to the city. Mahnomen City Administrator Mitch Berg highlights a few of those action items and the next steps for the city council moving forward.
Administrator Berg says this is a lengthy process, but he hopes it will provide guidance for the council for the next couple of years and encourage them to be proactive in making a difference in the community, rather than reactive.
The Mahnomen City Council also is looking into revamping their sign ordinance to meet current standards and fall in-line with other area cities.
The council also approved fire contracts, approved a donation request from the Mahnomen County Sheriff’s Office, and approved a resolution declaring a set of tires, generator, and a pickup surplus.
