McGregor School Board sets salaries, updates COVID-19 vaccines opportunities, winter sports

(McGregor, MN) — The McGregor School Board regular meeting Monday night included Board directives and COVID-19 updates from the McGregor Auditorium.
The Board accepted donations from Mille Lacs Electric totaling $4,454.07, Wells Fargo Matching Gifts Program totaling $100, and t-shirts from Pine Insurance Agency.
Board Chair Larry Doten read off the resolution for the District’s General Obligation Bonds.
The Board approved the resolution. Approval was given for the Pay Equity Report, a Revised Technology Assistant contract for Joe Simenstad, the American Indian Parent Advisory Committee Resolution, and the hirings of Rashad Gayden as boys basketball Head Coach and Brandon Johnson as boys basketball junior high coach.
Salaries for board members were also set for $55 per regular meetings, $75 for half day meetings, and $150 for full day meetings. The Board Chair will also make $450 a year, Vice Chair $300 a year, Treasurer $55 a month, and Clerk $100 a year.
Superintendent and Elementary Principal Brad Johnson gave a report on enrollment and distance learning for the District.
High School Principal and Activities Director Bob Staska noted the new school resource officer that will be coming to the McGregor School District.
Staska also talked about winter sports scheduling and any changes that have come about recently.
Going back to Superintendent Johnson, he talked about McGregor staff who have received COVID-19 vaccines or will be in the near future.
The McGregor School Board will have a Work Session meeting on February 8th with their next regular meeting on February 22nd at 6pm.
