Ada, MN — A package delivery vehicle is a complete loss following a fire north of Ada on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred at approximately 11am in the driveway of 2732 State Highway 9, which is 7 miles north of Ada. When fire crews arrived, a FedEx delivery van was already fully engulfed in flames. The driver and passenger of the van were able to get out safely, but the vehicle and everything inside was completely destroyed. Ada Fire Chief Steve Petry says its unclear what exactly caused the van to start fire, but the incident appears to stem from the driver sliding off the driveway and trying to get unstuck.

Cold and windy weather didn’t make fighting the fire any fun either, according to Chief Petry, as wind chill temperatures were in the teens below zero on Tuesday morning.

It was not known at the time how many packages were destroyed in the fire, but it doesn’t appear any survived. No injuries were reported. The Ada and Borup Fire Departments and Norman County Sheriff’s Office all responded to the incident.
