Pierz City Council Holds First Meeting of 2021
(PIERZ, MN) — The Pierz City Council met for the first time in 2021 on Monday, January 11, so we spoke with Mayor Dave Fischer to get caught up to speed.
As Fischer was re-elected in this past election cycle, the start of the new term meant it was time to be sworn in alongside Kyle Bednar, a council member who was also re-elected. Another council member, Jacque Ballou, was also re-elected, but was not present Monday and will be sworn in during the next meeting.
And since it was the first meeting of the year, some year-opening business was conducted, including a discussion on electricity rates.
Fischer wrapped up by mentioning that, since the council saw no turnover in this election cycle, he was looking forward to working with a team in which he shared extensive experience.
We thank Mayor Fischer for his time. The city of Pierz will hold its next regular council meeting on January 25. Our full interview with Fischer, in which he talks further about upcoming projects later in 2021 as well as other miscellaneous business items, can be found below.
