Mahnomen, MN — The Mahnomen City Council spent a majority of the first regular monthly meeting of year on Monday night discussing Public Works staffing with the recent departure of former Public Works Director Paul Domier. The city and Domier came to a mutual agreement to part ways following a complaint again for the long-time former Public Works Superintendent. In the meantime, the current Assistant Superintendent Scott Zortman was appointed as the Interim Director. Mahnomen City Administrator Mitch Berg says the plan as of now is to move the other two positions up and hold off on hiring anyone else for the time being.

The Mahnomen City Council also had discussions about purchasing a new ADA compliant door for the Lake Agassiz Regional Library. While the city could have spent less a modern looking door, Administrator Berg noted that a more aesthetically pleasing wood door is a much better fit for the old WPA style building.

The Lake Agassiz Regional Library has agreed to pay up to $15,000 for the purchase of a new door with help from a grant from the Otto Bremer Trust Foundation.
