Workman sworn in as Aitkin Mayor; Galliger, Henke as Council members at Aitkin City Council meeting from January 4th

(Aitkin, MN) — Megan Workman was officially sworn in as Mayor for the City of Aitkin, as well as Council members Katherine Galliger and Jason Henke at the January 4th City Council meeting Monday night.
The Council meeting proceeded with approval for Data Access Policies for Members of the Public and Data Subjects. City Administrator Rose Beverly, on behalf of Mayor Workman, presented the Mayor’s Appointments for City Commissions and Committees.
Under the Administration Report, the Council approved the establishment of establishing Council Work Sessions the 2nd Wednesdays of the month at 5:15pm beginning in March. Administrator Beverly presented Proposed Committee Meeting Schedules.
The Council moved to table discussion and action on the Drug Testing/Consent Form, appraisal on the property located at 909 2nd St NW. The reappointment of Commissioner Joel Hyytinen to the Public Utilities Commission was approved and the Consulting Services Contract for Madden Galanter Hansen, LLP. Interim Police Chief Paul Ryan spoke before the Council on a contract with LexiPol Law Enforcement for consulting with Aitkin PD on policies, procedures, and operating standards.
The contract with LexiPol was approved by the Council at a cost of $3,402 over a 12 month period.
The Aitkin City Council is next scheduled to meet on Tuesday, January 19th, with City offices being closed in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
