Polk County, MN — As everyone knows, the covid-19 vaccine has been rolling out across the world and has made its way into the State of Minnesota and into the arms of select Minnesotans. The vaccine comes after nearly an entire year of struggles and shutdowns thanks to the pandemic.
The light at the end of the tunnel is nearly in reach and Polk County Commissioner Joan Lee says that the county has welcomed the good news by purchasing a special freezer that will store the vaccine.
This freezer isn’t any normal freezer that you can purchase at your local appliance store. Commissioner Lee says that there are some security features that come with it so the price tag on the freezer comes in at just under $7,500.
Commissioner Lee also noted that the county is reaching the end of the C.A.R.E.S. Funding that was distributed earlier this year.
About $300,000 of the left over money will go towards supplies that are needed in the county and 1.6 million will go towards reimbursing salaries to the Sheriff’s Office, Healthcare Workers and Social Services.
