Gary, MN — The City of Gary wrapped up their pre-demolition auction of the former Norman County East Elementary School earlier this week and buyers are in the process of picking up their winning items. The auction ended on Monday and brought in around $20,000, which will be set aside for potential retrofitting of the parts of the school that they don’t demolish, including the gym. Gary Mayor Buck Engen says he’s very pleased with how everything went.
Demolition plans still need to be finalized. The city hasn’t approved a contractor as of yet, but they do have a low bidder in place.
The Gary Fire Department wrapped up a 13-gun raffle over the past weekend, which Mayor Engen adds was also successful and will allow them to make upgrades to their new fire hall.
And Engen adds that the water tower and water treatment facility projects continue to make progress.
The city of Gary is still looking to purchase a new payloader. Mayor Engen says “thankfully there hasn’t been any major snow events yet.”
