(BAXTER, MN) — The city of Baxter held its final council meeting of 2020 on Tuesday, December 15, so we spoke with Mayor Darrel Olson to get caught up to speed.

Olson said the meeting was fairly light and short. Much of the meeting was spent reminiscing with councilmember Todd Holman, due to this being the final council meeting with him. Holman has served on the Baxter council for “quite a few years” but will be moving out of town next year.

Olson also talked about the Salvation Army’s Day of Caring, which takes place today, December 17.

The kettles are being matched from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and are located at the Brainerd and Baxter Cub Foods stores, as well as Pequot Lakes Supervalu.

Finally, Olson looked back on the year 2020, and talked about how he thought the city handled everything that happened in this highly unique calendar year.

We thank Mayor Olson for his time. Our full interview with him may be found below.
