Fertile, MN — The Fertile-Beltrami School Board had their final regular monthly meeting of the calendar year on Tuesday night, December 8th. As part of that, they held the annual truth-in taxation hearing and certified the 2021 levy. Fertile-Beltrami Superintendent Brian Clarke says taxpayers could see a roughly 6-8% increase in their taxes due to increased valuation and a slight decline in enrollment.
The board also held the annual World’s Best Workforce presentation, which is required by the state. However Superintendent Clarke notes that it was more of a formality this year as it was hard to see how the district did in achieving its goals without their usual spring testing.
And the Fertile-Beltrami School Board recently received a rebate check from Otter Tail Power totaling nearly $10,000. Clarke says the district has placed an emphasis on energy efficiency over the last couple years as they’ve made upgrades to the facility.
Fertile-Beltrami is currently in a distance learning model through the end of this week, but they are meeting with Public Health officials to determine whether or not they will stay distance learning or return to the classrooms. A decision is expected sometime Friday.
