Gary, MN — City of Gary residents could be using cleaner, softer, and rust-free water sooner than originally anticipated. Good progress continues to be made on the new water tower and water treatment facility. The water tower, which is located on the northeast edge of town where the football field used to be, is now up, but still needs to be painted. As for the water treatment facility, Gary Mayor Buck Engen, says they are still several months away from that being operational, however they are ahead of schedule.
A majority of the water tower and water treatment facility projects are being paid for thanks to grants. The rest will be made up in utility rate increases. While an exact figure has yet to be determined, Mayor Engen says residents should not anticipate a substantial increase to their water rates.
In other news from the city of Gary, Engen, who also doubles as the city’s fire chief, says the fire department is hosting a 13-gun raffle, but notes that tickets are going fast ahead of this Saturday’s drawing.
Tickets are $20 each. Some of the guns included in the raffle are a Mossberg MVP 6.5 Creedmoor, American Tactical AR-300 Blackout, Weatherby Vanguard .270, and a variety of pistols, rifles, and shotguns.
