Aitkin County Board reviews CARES requests at November 24th meeting

(Aitkin, MN) — The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners heard from County Departments and provided more directions on CARES Funds at their meeting Tuesday from the Aitkin County Government Center Board Room.
Commissioners did approve Fire Contracts with the Cities of Aitkin and McGrath, a contract for Genetec Advantage for software maintenance in the Government/Judicial Center, the 2021 Medical Examiner Services contract with River Valley Forensic Services, and 2021 News Paper Bid Specifications.
Community Correction Director Kami Genz spoke to the Board on the 2021-22 Comprehensive Plan and requested approval on the Advisory Board membership.
The Correction Advisory membership was approved by the Board. Approval was also given on a resolution from Environmental Services Director Terry Neff on a joint powers agreement for the Regional Solid Waste Plan with 7 NE Counties, costing Aitkin County $9,239.40.
County Administrator Jessica Seibert brought to the Board expanded CARES funds and was looking for further direction on how to properly distribute funds.
Seibert also talked about the funds used related to COVID-19.
The Board approved motions of $40,000 to the Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office for compensation of purchasing PPE and $33,000 to finish Aitkin County CARES for Business Grants.
Under her Administrator updates, Seibert talked about the License Center getting caught up.
The Aitkin County Board of Commissioners is next scheduled to meet Tuesday, December 15th at 9am from the Aitkin County Government Center Board Room.
