(Aitkin, MN) — As troubles with safely staffing the District and rising COVID-19 cases across the State continue, Aitkin Public School made the difficult decision to transition Grades 4-12 to Remote Learning, effective Monday, November 23rd to Friday, January 15th.

Aitkin Superintendent Dan Stifter mentioned the decision with staffing issues, and consideration from Riverwood Healthcare and School Administration.

As for grades PreK through 3rd…

PreK through 3rd Grade will continue in-person learning as of right now with the District monitoring the current data and situation. Stifter also spoke about the reason for the length of the Remote Learning session as opposed to just two weeks.

The Aitkin School District will also be running meal pick-ups for students that have signed up.

Stifter also discussed needs for internet connectivity for the more rural parts of the District and where to find more information about the Learning Model Change on the District’s website.
