Helping Hands Food Shelf Staying Well Stocked Thanks to Community Support

Mahnomen, MN — The shelves will soon be well stocked at the Helping Hands Food Shelf in downtown Mahnomen thanks to recent contributions from Enbridge Energy and other community partners. Enbridge has now gifted Helping Hands with two $5,000 grants, the first of which helped them purchase a commercial freezer and the second to help purchase items beyond what they normally can afford, according to Marge Fabre of the Helping Hands Food Shelf.
Fabre says the Helping Hands Food Shelf typically can only buy food items, but they always welcome contributions from the community to help get additional goods for people in need, besides food.
Despite the hard times that many businesses and organizations are facing Fabre says they are blessed for the amount of support they continue to receive in the community.
Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the food shelf is closed to the public. However, if you call ahead, they will box up items and deliver them to your car. The Helping Hands Food Shelf is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9am until 4pm. Please call 935-2822 for assistance.
