DNR says to invest in Deer population with Firearm Hunting Season ahead
The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is encouraging all deer hunters to make a plan to invest in the health of wild deer populations. Hunters can do this by getting their deer tested for Chronic Wasting Disease in areas where surveillance testing is taking place.
Northwest Region wildlife manager John Williams says the tests are an essential part of keeping the state’s deer herd healthy.
For the hunters themselves, Central Region wildlife manager Jami Markle says reviewing hunting regulations and refreshing their knowledge of basic firearms safety is pertinent.
The DNR’s website offers tips, guides, and videos to help hunters with the Deer Firearm Season opening on November 7th. R&J Broadcasting, Inc will be airing a special DNR Hunting Opener Show Thursday at 5pm on “Real County” KKIN-FM 94.3 with rebroadcasts Friday and Saturday. Go to rjbroadcasting.com for more details.
