Hendrum, MN — This Thursday, November 5th, marks the end of the First Quarter for the Norman County West Elementary and the following day students will get the day off while teachers and staff take some time for Professional Development. Their Professional Development Day will focus specifically on poverty, according to Elementary Principal Deanne Flom. She says poverty is very much an issue that many students in the district face and by understanding what the students are dealing with they can provide a more equitable education for all students.
And with the First Quarter ending, that means Parent-Teacher Conferences are on the horizon as well. Principal Flom says they are planning to host virtual conferences with parents next week on November 10th and 12th.
In other news from the Norman County West School District, the Norman County West School Board will be meeting tonight (Monday, November 2nd) at 7pm to discuss the ownership proposal of the old high school from the City of Halstad as well as continue discussions on the potential consolidation with the Ada-Borup School District.
