Crow Wing County Landfill to open for deer carcass disposal only

(Brainerd, MN) — Starting in November, the Crow Wing County Landfill will be open on weekends during the Deer Firearm Season for hunters to properly dispose of deer carcasses only.
The weekends in November include 7-8, 14-15, and 21-22 from the hours of 10am-2pm. Crow Wing County is encouraging residents to bring the carcasses to the Landfill free of charge. The special hours also help in the fight against Chronic Wasting Disease that affects the cervid family of deer, elk, moose, reindeer, and caribou.
Crow Wing County has participated in numerous meetings with the MN Department of Natural Resources, the MN Pollution Control agency, MN Board of Animal Health, Conservations officers, and several local businesses in an effort to better understand the disease and be more proactive to contain the spread.
