Hunting season is upon us and this time of year proves to always be an exciting time with the goal of trying to finally track down that big trophy deer you want to mount on your wall or you’re taking a first time hunter out for their first hunting experience. No matter the case, rules have to followed about where you can hunt and Clearwater County Sheriff Darren Halvorson offers some advice to hunters and private land owners for this hunting season.
Of course you can always hunt on public land. Areas where Sheriff Halvorson says “there’s plenty of it in Clearwater County” and adds that you cannot claim rights to public land as your own or block off roadways that are on public land. Doesn’t matter if you have hunted their in the past, there’s no such thing as squatter’s rights when it comes to public land.
And it’s only October but of course we live in Northwest Minnesota where it seems like snow can fall at anytime of the year. Sheriff Halvorson also offers up some simple early winter driving tips.
As more and more snow continues to fall be sure to use caution and continue to follow these tips.
