Ada, MN — The Norman County Sheriff’s Office is warning community members that they have recently received a number of reports of phone scam attempts. The most recent scam they have had reports of involve DirectTV and eBAY. Norman County Sheriff Deputy Ben Fall says the scammers sound like legitimate DirectTV employees and may likely have your personal account information. However, once they gain your trust, that’s when they will try to get money from you, usually in the form of prepaid eBAY gift cards.

Deputy Fall is asking Norman County residents to be vigilant as this is just one example of the types of phone scams reports they’ve received.

The Norman County Sheriff’s Office says that if you think that you have been the victim of this scam or a similar scam to report it the Federal Trade Commission at their website, www.ftc.gov, or call 1-877-382-4357. You should also report the scam to your local law enforcement.
