Aitkin Fisheries Rick Bruesewitz on Bluegill Initiative, Open Houses

(Aitkin, MN) — Over the last two weeks discussion and open houses have taken place concerning fishing regulations from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and Aitkin County has not been excluded in these talks.

The DNR has proposed a quality bluegill initiative (QBI) that would reduce bag limits to 5 or 10. We spoke with Aitkin Area Fisheries Supervisor Rick Bruesewitz about the idea of introducing the QBI.

Bruesewitz further elaborated how the regulations would aid the lakes in increasing bluegill populations.

Beyond the DNR website, Bruesewitz and the Aitkin DNR Fisheries staff will be holding an open house on Monday from 6-8pm.
