Halstad, MN — In conjunction with this week’s National Fire Prevention Week, the Halstad Fire Department welcomes community members to stop in for their annual open house at the Fire Hall this Wednesday, October 7th from 5-7pm. The Halstad Fireman will be serving up hot dogs, hamburgers, beans, chips, and the fixings starting at 5:30pm. The open house offers a chance for kids to get up close and personal with the trucks and equipment, but also a great opportunity for those potentially interested in joining the department to meet the members and learn more about what it takes, according to Halstad Fire Department member Michael Bare.
Bare has been a member of the Halstad Fire Department since moving to the community over 5 years ago and says he’s enjoyed learning new skills and the camaraderie that comes with being a volunteer firefighter.
And regardless of whether or not you can make it to the open house, Bare highly recommends taking the time during National Fire Prevention Week to check your smoke detectors and replace batteries.
The theme for this year’s Fire Prevention Week is “Serving Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen.” Again, the Halstad Fire Department House is this Wednesday, October 7th.
